Peristiwa Bandung Lautan api adalah peristiwa kebakaran terbesar sesudah kemerdekan yang di lakukan oleh 200.000 penduduk Bandung yang membakar rumah mereka dan meninggalkan kota menuju pegunungan di daerah Bandung Selatan, dalam waktu tujung jam pada tanggal 23 Maret 1946. Peristiwa ini terjadi karena pasukan Inggris yang mulai memasuki kota Bandung, sejak bulan Oktober 1945 ingin menggunakan kota Bandung sebagai markas strategi militer dalam perang kemerdekaan Indonesia. Meskipun harus melanggar hasil perundingan dengan RI, tentara sekutu terus berusaha untuk menguasai kota Bandung. Kesepakatan sekutu, Inggris, dan NICA (Nederlands Indie Civil Administration) ini menimbulkan perlawanan heroik dari penduduk dan pemuda pejuang di Bandung yang akhirnya memutuskan untuk membumi hanguskan kota Bandung.
